  • Boy’s Bedroom Makeover To Take You From Toddler To Teen

Boy’s Bedroom Makeover To Take You From Toddler To Teen

When redoing Robert’s room, I wanted it to be fun for him but also fit the vibe of our house and not get dated quickly. My main tip for designing a kid’s room that’s classic and will last, is avoid all of the theme specific merch and stick with more timeless pieces. I was inspired by a custom canvas I had made of Robert sitting on a bench at his father’s softball game, holding a baseball in his hand with his oversized glove and backwards hat. I think he was all by 2. Here’s how it went from there…

    Color Palette:

Tans, Blues, White – pulled from the sand, baseball and clothing

    Design Idea:

My plan was to stick with the color palette and choose timeless pieces. Pieces that could go anywhere and can grow with my son. I picked the rug and the rest was history.

    The Rug:

I found this Harris Blue/Brown Micro Hooked Wool Rug and for something so out of my comfort zone [my whole house is neutrals] I’ve never been so sure of something in my life! In fact, I was originally trying to shoehorn in something jute, natural or black and it just wasn’t clicking. Never happier I switched gears.

    Mood Board:

My biggest tip, probably ever, is to design a mood board. You can use Canva [which is what I use] and just bring in screenshots of items you think you want. I swapped out everything so many times, until things start to click. Then, when I see it all together, I get a feel for the entire design and feel much more confident about my end decision.

    The Bedding:

It might just be me, but I have a hard time using anything but white bed sheets. I like to be able to bleach them or even just have them not fade in the wash. I also like the idea of buying quality sheets that last and having the option to change up my decor or other linens without needing new sheets. So, white/natural/ivory it was. I selected this Comfy Cotton Dove White Sheet Set and it did not disappoint. It’s so soft and washes beautifully! I had a white duvet cover but wanted some contrast, so I went with the Lush Linen Natural Duvet Cover. I also thought that the linen texture would be a nice compliment to the smooth sheets. Texture is such a great way to bring interest and dimension to a space!

While we’re on the subject of texture, the Bubble Blue Matelassé Coverlet and Bubble Blue Matelassé Sham seriously pulled this whole spa together. I got the Euro size shams and use them to define the headboard space. I got a twin size coverlet and use it as a throw, but they do have a throw option! They are so soft and comfy and I just love the muted dusty blue.

    The Lumbar Pillow:

This Logan Dove White Decorative Pillow is seriously a statement piece! I have to be honest; first, I thought it was 20″ long and would be a small accent throw pillow and two, I’ve never seen a pillow this big! It’s 58″ long by 20″ wide and it. is. comfy. I LOVE that it stretches the whole size of the bed because it’s great for when my son wants to sit back and read or watch his iPad. It can also totally be repurposed on my king size bed one day and look just as dynamite! The fringe adds such nice detail and softness and it comes in two colors.
    Seating:
I wanted to put a neat spin on the OG beanbag concept, so I found these gorgeous and huge Mingled Platinum Indoor/Outdoor Pouf ottomans. They’re structured enough to keep their shape but comfy enough to use as addition seating in his room. I got two and placed them at the end of his bed, like a bench. They also come in a pretty blue.
I hung a shelf with some books and hooks over it and it doubles as a reading nook!
Annie Selke has so much more than just rugs and bedding. They have window treatments, [which I kind of wish I explored more to break up the white on white] furniture, light, you name it! If you missed it, I wrote a blog post on how to install a stair runner yourself and also how to choose the right rug for your home. Both of those are from Annie Selke. The quality is so incredible, it’s worth every penny!
I’d like to truly thank Annie Selke for agreeing to partner with me again. They do not disappoint and I’m so happy I chose them to give my eldest the “big boy” room he deserves!
Your support in being here, is always so appreciated! Hopefully this helps you or you can share with someone it might!
    XOXO

  • How To Create A Proper Sitting Room In An Unconventional Space.

How To Create A Proper Sitting Room In An Unconventional Space.

Below, I’m offering up design tips on how to make a neutral space pop! I’ll also help calm your fears about finding the perfect matchy, matchy furniture, wood tones or metals! This is my third room furnished by Raymour & Flanigan and I’m excited to share all they have to offer. One of the things I’m most impressed with is their pricing and quality. The gorgeous pieces that I was able to get within a specific budget seems almost unreal. The shipping is free too, which is always a bonus!

When we renovated the first floor and took down the two main walls, we had big plans for the layout. As you could imagine with any big reno, not everything turned out as we originally wanted. We ended up with a larger kitchen island and therefore had to keep the couch in the new addition, leaving us with this awkward room in between. We thought about putting a small dining table but we had the formal dining room just to the right and our big 6 person island, we thought about making it a half court basketball room for the boys [not really] but in the end we decided to showcase the double sided fireplace that looks from this room to the dining room. Having worked with them in the past, I thought, who better than Raymour & Flanigan to furnish the space! They truly have something for everyone and my style isn’t exactly one and done; it’s a mix of a few but I think I was able to make this room come together nicely!

    The Mood Board:

    The Seating:

So, right off the bat, we needed seating. We thought about an oversized chair and a half but ultimately we decided on two chairs. Our concern was making sure they didn’t overtake the space. It’s not a ton of room and we need access to the built ins and the powder room. We found the most amazing low profile, wood framed Apfel Chairs and the second I saw them, I fell in love.

Since we were making this a space where Rob and I could sit and enjoy our coffee or wine, while watching the fire, we wanted it to be as comfortable and cozy as possible. I got two of these Penelope Ottomans for us to put our feet on. I went out on limb with these because they don’t match perfectly, but that’s ok! The material is similar to that of the chairs [a linen look and texture] and it has charcoal pinstripes, which works with all of the black metals in the house, such as the large metal wall clock on a wall not far away. The differences are subtle and they really blend in nicely. What I love about these ottomans is they’re multifunctional. They can be used for a foot rest, pushed together for a table to play a game or we have already had parties where we’ve used them for additional seating around the room. Their ability to be moved makes them extremely practical and their neutral coloring allows them to fit in anywhere!

    Accent Furniture:

I now had to design this room around these chairs. [As I just mentioned in one of my last reels, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, pick one thing you love or have to have and go from there!] Being they’re a neutral tone and have amazing texture in the fabric, it offered me some wonderful avenues to explore. The brown marled material really lends itself nicely to tying in the Kathleen Round Side Table we chose. It also matches the tones of wood frame beautifully and really anchors the space by the chairs.

Even though the sofa table is a different wood tone, the variations in the stain make it a compliment to the other woods. Don’t be afraid to mix wood or metal tones. Look for the deeper colored knots or grains to work with another piece of furniture you have! If they’re far enough away from each other too, it’s an even easier sell. I loved this Dawson Sofa Table because of it’s crate like drawers and then the large open space allowed for me to fill it with baskets, completely maximizing on my storage opportunities for all the kid’s toys. I used a pale wicker basket color to tie in these gorgeous vases, also from Raymour & Flanigan. I was drawn to the white mesh texture! Unfortunately, I couldn’t link them but I bought them from my local RF showroom in Ocean Township, NJ.

I found another set of Brayton Nesting Baskets that I fell in love with. They’re soft and floppy but still maintain structure. They’re just amazing, lol. I ended up placing them under our fire place and love how the round shape breaks up the rectangular space under the hearth. Again, this is where all of the kiddo’s mess gets hidden.

    The Rug:

Of course, no space is ever complete without an area rug to ground it. A rug not only adds dimension and warmth to a room, but it truly does define the space and anchors it all together. Since this room is in the center of our home and as I mentioned before, you pass through for the powder room and living room/back doors, we wanted to keep a nice flow. A circular rug was an obvious choice. It also contrasted the angular sectional sofa and island, which flank it. I had some things to consider when picking a rug for such a prominent location; traffic, dirt, the dogs, kids etc. I went with the Natural Chunky Jute Rug because it hides a multitude of sins, cleans well and holds up nicely to the daily destruction that is our house.

    Wall Accents:

The last thing I added to the room, to really add a wow factor when you walked in, was this Jeremiah Round Wall Mirror. I went out of my comfort zone a little bit because I normally would not have been attracted to the colors that are in it, but they’re subtle enough to where they don’t stand out and they make a really interesting conversation piece while adding a little something to this otherwise all neutral space. It was another piece that, the second I saw it, I had to have it. To reiterate this design tip; always think about adding something round to angular spaces for contrast and balance. I use to have a large rectangular canvas in this space that I thought was great but it was too redundant with the jut out we have from the built ins. Now, this mirror draws your eye and then it circulates around the space. So important when designing a room [or a work of art].

The above shot shows the other view of how this space is incorporated in our home. You can truly see the various metals and wood tones here, inclusive of the dog food and toddler! #itsarealhome

I hope you took something away from this post and now feel more confident to go design the space of your dreams! I’d also like to truly thank Raymour & Flanigan for trusting me for a third time, to use their product to create an eye catching space! Our house is becoming a home, one room at a time! If you haven’t yet seen them, please check out our Master Bedroom Redesign and our Home Office Build! Those rooms are also furnished with Raymour and are two of my most viewed posts! While you can shop online, the showroom is expansive and my experience with the associates has always been so pleasant, I would highly recommend going in for a visit, if you’re in the northeast.

Thanks so much for being here! If you haven’t already, subscribe so you never miss a post!

  • Tips For Styling A Foyer

While I would say the main style of my home is Modern Farmhouse, all my eggs are definitely not in that basket. I have a touch of french country, some rustic elegance [I may have made that one up but I think it sounds catchy] and a little modern/contemporary. Don’t feel you have to commit to one style to keep it cohesive. Below, I’m offering up some design tips for you, from an artist’s perspective. Most of my best sellers, home edition, come from Target so I figured I would give them a permanent spot on the blog! Up first, my foyer! Links to specific pieces are linked in pink throughout my blurbs.

I took one look at this console table and knew it needed a place in my home, especially after I just finished painting my kitchen island black! It’s ties it all together with the color and brass accents. The wicker baskets soften it up with their warmth and texture and their round shape adds contrast to the angular space, between the table, steps and trim. The warm tones of the wicker [or any other wood accents] plays nicely off of brass or gold metals. The faux greenery helps to add depth and dimension and more texture. The round mirror does the same thing as the baskets. It’s a nice contrast to the rectangular table. It also sets it up nicely to stack some frames and play with different levels or heights of decor, vs having a large frame the same size and shape to fill the space. It’s all about balance! I love this small cement sphere and this candle is my all time favorite scent! It’s warm and rich and makes you feel right at home when you walk in!

This was the original way I had the foyer up until a few weeks ago. This table was also from Target, but has been sold out for quite a while. The round rug remains and is always such a show stopped when people walk in. it’s one of my favorite pieces to tie together the blacks and warm wood tones throughout the space. It’s also held up great to the weather that people bring in on their shoes, the dogs charging the mailman and the kids spilling pouches.

This was how we had the space when we had the space set up with the table by the door. I decided to switch it because, why not…and I love it now! I have semi big plans for another diy project coming up for the wall when you first walk in, where this beautiful bench now resides. Stay tuned for that and keep checking back! The bench is currently sold out but has the “notify me” option, so I linked it hopeful it will return. If not, I’m sure there is something there that will work for your space. This bench matches the style of our dining chairs, so that’s a nice level of consistency carried through the rooms. I had to link these faux fur mules too since they made the pic! Still a good amount of sizes left and they’re on clearance, so snag them while you can! They run tts or you can size down a half!

Some wreath options are this olive and eucalyptus or all eucalyptus one. Both are beautiful and I think the quality is great, especially for the price.

These tips can be applied anywhere in your home, to create a balanced and cohesive space, regardless of style mixing. Don’t be afraid to take risks and add in pops of color or abstract art either! I hope you found them helpful and if you’re new to shopping all things home at Target, well…you’re welcome! 🙂

As always, thanks for being here!

    XOXO

  • How To Easily Build A DIY Floating Bed With LED Lights

How To Easily Build A DIY Floating Bed With LED Lights

My recommendation [which is what we did] is to bring the cut list to your local lumber shop; we used Home Depot, and have them cut all of the wood for you. This saves you some time and materials.

    Tools needed:

Miter saw We have Ryobi Tools; the price point and quality is great for our around the home projects.

Chop Saw [Mitre saw can be used for this]

    Circular Saw

Screws [We used one whole box]

Drill These are the drills that we have and use, and again, for our around the house projects, they’ve been wonderful.

    Stud Finder

    Material list:

    2×4″‘s [For the top frame]

    2×6″‘s [For the bottom frame]

Full Sheet of 4×8’ Birchwood [This is for the mattress support]

1×4.5″ plank of wood of your choice. We used clear pine. [You can use a 1×6″ if they have it; this is for the decorative side/foot rails.

    Stain

    Cut list:

We based these measurements on a generic full size mattress. Once we built it and placed our Lull on it, we found we wished we had more space around the edges, so I would measure the mattress you’ll be using and go from there.

    [2] 2×4’s at 74.5 inches

    [5] 2×4’s at 50.75 inches

    [2] 2×6’s at 61 inches

    [2] 2×6’s at 38.25 inches

    [1] 2×6 at 58 inches

The rest of the cuts I would do at home:

[1] 4×8′ birchwood cut to the length you made your platform. Use the strip you cut off from the bottom for the right sides of the bed, where the birchwood doesn’t reach. [On the wall side]

[2] 1×4.5″ planks for the trim pieces. We cut the footboard first to the width of the frame and the sideboard second, so that it would cover the raw edge of the footboard. MEASURE THE FINISHED DIMENSIONS OF THE FRAME BEFORE MAKING THESE CUTS.

    Step 1: Bottom Platform; Use [2] 61″ and [2] 38.25″ 2×6 boards

Set the boards into a rectangular frame as shown above. Secure together with your drill and screws. We used 2 screws for each end [top and bottom] and went from the outside into the shorter boards. NOTE: THE BOARDS SHOULD BE PERFECTLY ALIGNED, WE JUST HADN’T SECURED THIS END PIECE YET.

Step 2: Platform Support; Use 58″ 2×6 board, drill and screws

Install your 2×6 support in the center of the bottom platform as shown above. [You can see the screw locations where each boards connects.] This is how we secured each piece of the frame.

Step 3: Top Platform; Use [2] 74.5″ and [2/5] 50.75″ 2×4 boards, drill and screws

Place your 2×4 boards in a rectangle, as shown above. Notice, the shorter 2×4’s are located on the INSIDE of the longer 2×4’s. Secure with screws from the outside.

Step 4: Platform Support; Use the remaining [3] 50.75″ 2×4 boards

Place them in the center of the rectangle, spaced evenly, as shown above. Secure with screws from the outside.

Step 5: Assemble the platforms; Use drill, screws and a stud finder

Stack the top platform on the bottom platform, like shown above. Find the studs and secure to the wall with screws. [We used 2 screws for every stud.] You’re also going to drill screws in at a 45 degree angle to secure the top platform to the bottom. We did this in the top platform’s support beams.

Step 6: Support Cantilever; Use remaining 2×4 board, miter saw, drill and screws

Cut your last 2×4 board at a 45 degree angle, on each end, after measuring the length needed, in the corner of the top platform. Then, secure it to the outer frame by drilling the screws into the ends from the outside. Repeat this process for the second, smaller piece. NOTE: This piece [top left end] will only need a 45 degree cut on one end, because the other will sit flush against the first support [bottom right end].

Step 7: Mattress Support; Use birchwood, drill and screws

Lay your sheet of birchwood down on top of the platform and secure to the cross beams with screws from the top. You can gently sand away any splinters created at the screw holes. NOTE: The birchwood isn’t wide enough for the bed frame, so we used the excess that we cut off of the bottom, to fill the space on the right side, by the wall. You can see the seam in the photo.

Step 8: The Trim Pieces: Use 1×4.5″ wood planks of your choice, stain, drill and screws

You can use whatever wood matches the aesthetic of your home. We used clear pine because that’s what we have everywhere. IMPORTANT: stain looks different on different woods. We have experimented over time to find that the Special Walnut stain by Minwax, on clear pine, matches our floors the best. [They are red oak wood with a 50/50 mix of Early American and Classic Gray.] We stained our precut planks and secured them to the bed frame, using 2 screws on each end. We stained it with one light coat [you can always go darker] and we did not seal it. I found these Minwax wipes that are a stain and finish in one! These would be perfect for this project, so you don’t have to buy a whole can of stain for this little job. A little stain goes a long way!

TIP: When installing the side/foot board planks, placing them approx. a 1/2″ -1″ higher than the top of the platform will create a tiny lip, keeping the mattress from sliding off.

    LED Lights

Should you want to add LED lights underneath, it’s definitely a cool feature and adds a nice ambiance to the space! We got these Motion Sensor LED Lights off of amazon and just taped them underneath the bed. The ones I linked above were the perfect length for the full size bed. They plug into the wall, so you will need a nearby outlet. We happen to have one right at the foot of the bed, so it’s hidden. When they turn off, we just walk near the bed and they kick back on!

    The Result

I partnered with Annie Selke to finish off the room with the rug, bedding, pillows and poufs. I chose not to get window treatments, but they have that and furniture too! This is my second partnership with them [I sought out both] because their quality is second to none. Check back for that post to be published in the next few days! Comment or email me with questions about anything you see! Follow me on Instagram or Facebook & you can message me there easily too!

I based the theme of the room off of these wrapped canvases I had made from Smallwoods Home. I wrote a post sharing all of my custom photo pieces; check it out here! I am also buying decals for the this blank window wall, to break up the white.

**If you want to create this look in the center of a wall, repeat the cantilever process for both bottom corners, stack the platforms centered on one another and secure them at the top, making sure you’re screwing into studs.

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you found this helpful!

    XOXO

  • Baby Registry Must Haves

Photo was right after our 22 week appointment, when we found out our first was a boy!

This post was inspired by 2 of my friends asking what I had on my registry…within a few days of each other! After 3 kids, I definitely went through all of the stages…with number 1, I registered for everything. Of course I did, I was excited and couldn’t wait to nest! I very quickly discovered how unnecessary that was, as we quickly ran out of space in our Hoboken apartment. While I will list all of the things that I think are “essential” or maybe I should just say, are nice to have around; I will preface it by saying, if you can borrow a majority of it, do it! Baby’s are so different; what one loves, another might hate and this stuff isn’t cheap. It can also be bulky and take up a lot of space! Some items are worth the investment, a stroller for instance or a crib…but that $500 mamaroo? Borrow it. Ok, here’s my list, broken down by category. [At the end of the post, I will include some helpful ideas for the baby shower!]

[Pro Tip: Some stores; Target, Amazon and Buy Buy Baby, to name a few, offer completion discounts if you register with them. So, once the shower is over, you can buy anything you went that’s remaining and receive anywhere from 10-20% off. So, think about that before you head to Babylist. I am not sure if they offer that, but they may!]

Have a diaper depot or raffle where you ask people to bring diapers of varying sizes to enter a raffle for a gift. You can include a little note in the invitation assigning a brand and size to make it easier, so you ensure you don’t get all NB and no size 1.

You can also ask people to bring a book signed inside, rather than a card and start the baby’s library!

Photo is a selfie I took of me and our second son, in the hospital.

You’re going to blink and the registry process will be a thing of the past and you’ll be holding your little bundle of joy in your arms! Rest assured, you’ll be totally prepared if you go off of the list above! Congrats on your blessing and enjoy every second!

  • Holiday Shopping at the Freehold Raceway Mall

Holiday Shopping at the Freehold Raceway Mall

I spent the day at the Freehold Raceway Mall with my friend Meredith and it felt so good to get back to “normal”! It still wasn’t as crowded as it normally was pre covid, but the experience was so warming and wholesome and it gave me all the fuzzy holiday feels. Everything was decorated so festive, Santa was there of course and the music was pumping throughout the mall. It takes me around 30-45 minutes to get there but it’s so worth it! It’s definitely a destination or experience, for sure. We got there early in the morning around 11, got a smoothie to start the day and hit up some stores. Below I shared the stores we hit and linked my purchases along with some other fabulous products under the photo.

Boxlunch was our first stop; It has Pop culture-themed apparel, accessories, home goods, & collectibles. I snagged an impressive 3000 piece Marvel Superhero puzzle for Bert. I am such a puzzle person and so is he, so this is going to be something really special we can do together over the winter break! I also grabbed my nephew a 100 piece Baby Yoda puzzle and a Baby Yoda Clip for his backpack, because he’s super into Star Wars. They had a fabulous selection of products that would make perfect stocking stuffers too. You can shop for everyone from baby to adult and even grab a crock-pot covered in Spiderman! It’s definitely the spot to go for anyone in your life who has a love for a theme; Disney, Movies, Superheros etc. They even have a healthy Bob Ross collection, which of course for me, is a huge win!

Next we hit Offline by Aerie; They’ve got leggings, sports bras, tops, workout dresses, skirts, and more — all made for movement. They have some of the softest materials I’ve ever felt, and I am all about the softness! You can also make really cute gifts for stockings, Secret Santas or grab bags with their self care products [bath balms, lotions etc] and winter accessories. I snagged all the things you see me wearing or holding in this photo!

Windsor was next; they offer clothing that fits the life and work styles of today’s contemporary woman. The abundance of sequins caught my attention first and I fell in love with the most adorable belted dress, perfect for the holidays! In typical fashion, I also left with a beige duster cardigan and brownish colored knit hat. I couldn’t resist the beautiful neutrals. They also had the cutest bags, hats, accessories and even all the things needed for the perfect bachelorette party! The Sales Manager even took her mask off to take a pic with me! They were so fun and friendly!

After, we went to Aveda; Professional hair and skincare products that give you a fashion-forward look while supporting eco-friendly practices. I told the sales associate my skin and hair troubles [that I left the dermatologist that morning with a report of exceptionally dry skin!] and she directed me in the right direction. She was so knowledgeable and patient, willing to help me until I finally decided on the perfect products. I love that everything is clean and vegan too!

Around 2pm, we finally stopped for lunch. They have a few really nice restaurants but we ate at Brio Tuscan Grille and it was delicious! Not only was the food good, but they went above and beyond to accommodate my friend, who can’t have dairy. We had the most amazing Peach Sangria, Calamari, Bruschetta Sampler, Steak Salad and Ravioli di Bello [Portabello stuffed….YUM]

They’re all located in one section of the mall, in a courtyard-esque location with pretty lit trees and benches; you feel like you’re in a park. It’s so quaint and calming. [They of course also have your typical food court with the usual, including Cinnabon and Auntie Anne’s…need I say more?!]

We headed back inside to finish up some shopping but we also stopped to checkout this amazing Art Installation, done by local artists from Asbury! It’s called Art Outside Of The Box and it’s this awesome fusion of Art and Nature, having used repurposed cardboard to create the most incredible interactive mural!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I love all things under the sea, so this one side was definitely my favorite, but all of it was honestly so impressive to be around!

I felt like Alice in Wonderland next to this thing, it really was so cool! I might be biased because I’m a person of the arts myself, but it’s definitely something you should check out even if you’re not!

After the mural, we stopped into Lucky Brand and oh em gee, was it good! Lucky has been around forever but if you weren’t aware, they have vintage-inspired denim, sportswear, outerwear, T-shirts, activewear, and accessories for men and women. I needed this sweater but they only had a large, so when I got home, I may or may not have bought it online…Their hats are adorable but my head remains too large to pull this look off! **crying**

Lovisa was the last store on our adventure; they have brilliantly affordable, on-trend jewelry. I got the cutest black and gold ring stack, a gold rectangular necklace and a great travel jewelry box! Meredith got a beautiful Celtic-style gold and cubic zirconia ring that resembles her wedding band, to wear on her other hand.

Their sales are phenomenal and they have something for literally everyone! I can’t link their products unfortunately, but I put some photos below for you to see! They do have a website where you can shop online and ship to your home.

One of my favorite parts of this mall, and probably one of the most widely known, is the giant carousel on the second floor that you see through the glass tower as you arrive. It’s truly magical, especially during the holiday season.

They also have a great variety of stores. I went into some stores for the first time and also hit up some favorites. They have something for every body and every occasion; holiday parties, bachelorette parties, gifts for all ages…We only hit 6 stores and ate lunch and got home at 5pm! We def took our time, but I would love to go back for a round 2! I hope this helped guide you a little bit with where to shop! I love this magical time of year!

As always, thanks for being here!

    XOXO

  • Dining Room Holiday Decor

I’ve rounded up my decor used throughout our newly finished dining room! I hope you find inspiration for the holiday season! I tried to keep it simple and rustic-elegant! I swapped out very little and added some little touches here and there. I have everything linked below the photos. Enjoy!

These pendants were actually purchased 3 years ago for our island and were comically large! I returned them and when deciding what to do in here, I had an AHA moment and repurchased them. they’re perfect. My husband also ran the electric and hooked them up himself, they were so easy! [and he is not an electrician, he writes insurance!]

Rob also built this door for about $200, including the track and hardware. It would’ve cost us over $1000 to buy and have installed! He used White Pine tongue and groove and 1×6″ planks, adhering it with wood glue and a nail gun. [1 1/4″ finishing nails]

The only changes I made to my mantle in this room were adding the garland and the wooden christmas tree. Everything else is always there! I’ll swap out the winter faux stem for Eucalyptus when the weather turns nice again. I linked candlesticks from Target that seem to be better quality than the ones I have here. Mine are from Amazon, but they’re flimsy and crooked, as you can see by the shortest candle.

This tree changed my life. Too dramatic? I’ve never had a flocked tree before and always wanted one. Rob also insists on a real tree, so we have one in the Family Room and I put this faux one in here. It adds such a nice ambiance to the room for our Holiday dinners. It’s from Best Choice Products, comes pre lit and took me about 2 minutes to set up. Fluffing is so easy too! The mirror is another hero piece of this space. It’s 48″ and creates such a warm, yet wow factor when you enter.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for the rest of our home and click here to see where this dining room started! Never forget where you came from!
